St Vincent parrots reserve & site of Disney movie «Pirates of the Caribbean » |

Description : We start by a scenic tour through our capital, Kingstown , with its colonial and modern architecture. Many buildings date back to the 19th century. On our route alongside the Leeward highway up to the Buccament Valley , we bring you inland driving through small villages. Another 1.5 miles on rugged path brings us to the Nature Trail site. The Vermont Nature Trail offers an opportunity to explore the St. Vincent Parrots Reserve. The Reserve conserves 10,870 acres of forest, set aside in 1987 to help preserve the rare St. Vincent Parrot: Amazona Guildingii, and its rain forest habitat. This Reserve provides a superb area for hiking and bird watching. There are two trails: The Parrot Lookout Trail, 1¾ miles and The River Trail, ¾ miles, which offer the unique opportunity for an exhilarating but comfortable walk (about 3 hours) with both ascending and descending deep through cultivated fields and into the heart of the rainforest. The tour continue up to Wallilabou bay which was used as the location for Port Royal , in the popular Disney movie: “Pirates of The Caribbean”. We will stop to the straw art craft work shop for a little shopping if you desire. During this tour, a Vincentian lunch will be served and you will also enjoy a refreshing swim in the Caribbean sea . Practical Tips : As you will be walking through a rainforest, intermittent rain might happen. For hiking, shorts, tee-shirts and ordinary outdoor shoes are recommended but be prepared to the eventuality of getting them wet. This tour is suitable for everybody. Pregnant women must be aware that some roads are rugged on our way.
